I guess with the 'cube you could get away with just a Dualshock type controller, but how do you play Wii games? You can use any controller that you want to and just map the buttons. The key advantage is that by using emulation the 3D models are actually rendered at higher resolution and aren't simply upscaled like a TV (or the PS3) does.Anyways, here are the two emulators I'm talking about:PCSX2 - haven't been using these for very long but if anybody has any questions feel free to ask. For example, you can change the internal resolution of the PS2 emulator to 2048x2048 (or higher) with texture filtering and it looks AMAZING and nothing like the original game. use the PC mouse as a Wiimote, or a PC X-Box 360 controller to play PS2 games)Save-statesFaster than original consolesMost of those are obvious but I'd like to reiterate how much better the graphics are for PS2 emulation. However, I was a little suprised to see that Gamecube and Wii emulation is pretty damn awesome as well. Why do I prefer emulation? Here are a few reasons:Better graphics (higher resolution, antialiasing, etc)Better controls (eg. I knew that PS2 emulation was being worked for quite a while but just recently I'd classify it as "near perfect". If everything fails, try another version of PCSX2 since game speeds may fluctuate between different emu revisions(I always keep at least 3 versions of PCSX2 and Dolphin installed for this reason).I've always been a huge fan of emulation and I've recently discovered that PS2, Gamecube, and Wii emulation is pretty damn good. It also might help to set your rendering resolution to native in plugin settings. If you are experiencing problems with a game that you know should run well(like Namco x Capcom in your case), try playing with the hacks like has been suggested above. The King of Fighters 2002 - Unlimited Match Here it is: I`ve completed more PS2 games with PCSX2 than I care to remember(haven`t even used my PS2 in a while because of how good an emulator PCSX2 has become), but here`s a few off the top of my head: So, PCSX2 can now take advantage of CPUs with 3 or more cores. On a sidenote, one of the recent revisions finally introduced multi-threading support(enabled by checking "MTVU" box under "Speedhacks"). When it comes to plugins, I almost always use the ones that come with the PCSX2 revision. Increasing the CPU clock speed really boosted the emulation performance for me(more so than overclocking the videocard). I have AMD Athlon X3 425 overclocked to 3,4Ghz(original clock speed is 2,7GZ). Your PC is good enough, although it would help to overclock your CPU to at least 3,5Gz. It might just be one of the games with performance issues though, I really don't have time to check until I get back from work later today. You can also try changing the renderer to software, make sure you set rendering threads to "2" if you do.Īlso if you're running from a burned disc, run it directly from an image file. No need to restart the emulator for each change.Īlso try config - video - plugin settings, make sure you're running the best renderer available (Direct3D11 or Direct3D9 if you're on XP), check allow 8-bit textures and try running at native resolution. Keep in mind that you can actually modify and experiment with these settings while the game is running. If that doesn't work you can *try* increasing the sliders (at which point framerate counters won't work, you'll just have to see for yourself if the game is running at full speed). Go to config - emulation settings - speedhacks, enable all of them but leave the sliders at 0 (they really mess with timing of stuff). Preferably overclocked.ī/pcsx2/ <- get the latest build from there For the best performance with emulators, you really need a high end Intel CPU.
